DPN-Scheduler

DocPatientNetwork contains a comprehensive, resource-based scheduling solution fully integrated with the rest of the technology.

As always with DPN solutions, all functionality is deeply integrated with all other functionality, sharing a common database and even common web services. Data re-entry never happens in DPN. Also, there is no separate process synchronizing data between different modules. In DPN, all functionality shares data in real-time because anything less poses a risk to patient care and adds unnecessary "data re-entry" work to the normal workflow in medical organizations.

DPN-Scheduler has three primary components:

  1. Graphical Appointment Book
  2. Session Manager
  3. Patient Tracking Screen

The Graphical Appointment Book is a very sophisticated full screen appointment manager which lets the user see appointments across multiple users (or other resources) at the same time for almost any subset of days in a month. This technology also allows the user to set-up medical organization resources which then can be schedules just as easily as patients can be scheduled for medical appointments. For example, if the practice manages a sleep center, then DPN allows the practice to set-up the Sleep center as a resource and schedule patients for that resources.

The Session Manager is for front desk staff and it displays appointments for a given provider in a given location. It not only displays appointments by time slot but also provides the tools necessary for the front desk staff can manage the flow of patients. Each appointment has an "appointment status" indicator such as "Waiting for Labs to be drawn". Appointment statuses are customizable per practice. The Session Manager also contains the tools necessary to make sure that all of the required information for commercial insurance billing is present by the time the patient checks out. Automated eligibility checking is available for those who use TTP.

The Patient Tracking Screen is for clinical staff. This screen allows the user to "VIEW" the status of any patient with an appointment for the clinical session. The user can then click on this window to view make the select patient the "active patient" and to then view clinical information and create digital medical records. The Patient Tracking Screen can also be displayed on a large monitor in the clinical work area so that users can be made aware of the status or needs of any patient in real time.

DPN allows users to set a preference for either the Session Manager or the Patient Tracking Screen. Generally, clerical staff see the former and clinical staff see the latter.
